On 30 May, Venice Urban Lab took part in Cura Zitelle, a day-long initiative organized by Venice Calls and dedicated to the care and reactivation of public space through activities promoting active citizenship, sports, and opportunities for discussion about the local area. Our members Olenka Palomino and Valentino Consiglio participated in the event.

The morning was devoted to caring for the area surrounding the Zitelle basketball court. In the afternoon, the space came alive with a basketball game and an urban walk exploring several significant sites in the neighborhood, led by Sebastiano Cognolato of Venice Calls. During the walk, we contributed by sharing observations and reflections on the spaces we encountered.

The walk provided an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the neighborhood through the voices of those who live in and regularly use it. The route encouraged an informal conversation about both the challenges and the potential of the spaces visited, fostering an exchange of ideas and perspectives among participants.

The day concluded with a collective debriefing and discussion involving the participating organizations and attendees, highlighting the importance of caring for shared public spaces and of fostering dialogue among the people who live in and help shape the local community.
