On the initiative of Venice Urban Lab, the New European Bauhaus Festival 2026 will return to Venice as a Satellite Event.

The New European Bauhaus is an initiative of the European Commission that brings together sustainability, inclusion, and beauty to rethink the spaces we live in. Every two years, its Festival, taking place this year in Brussels from June 9 to 13, brings together citizens, designers, local communities, and institutions around a shared vision: transforming neighborhoods and urban spaces into more livable, accessible, and creative places. Satellite Events, independently organized across Europe, bring this vision into local contexts.

The theme of the Venice Urban Lab Satellite Event in Venice will focus on the reactivation of unused spaces, applying the practice of temporary use within the urban context of Venice. The initiative involves the temporary activation of an unused space, transforming it into a place available for various activities: a sort of “neighborhood living room” open to the public, young people, adults, seniors, newcomers, and students, conceived as an extension of domestic space.

More information on the date, program of the event, and participation details will be available on this page soon.

Venice Urban Lab had already organized a Satellite Event of the NEB Festival 2024 in Venice. The event Placemaking in Venice: Connecting People to Places brought together 50 participants who shared ideas, discussed, and took concrete action for the future of the Santa Marta area.
