[...] At this point, Petrarch's powerful description of Venice becomes relevant and inspiring once again: let us imagine Venice as a city that promotes peace, justice and human rights, that rejects war and, alongside its recently renewed twin city agreement with Odessa, proposes a twin city agreement with Gaza and recognises the State of Palestine; a universal treasure trove of beauty, which sees beauty as a driving force for the common good; a city in which every piece of architecture contributes to defining public space, a feminine city, historically at the forefront of women's emancipation, which conveys resilience, delicacy and kindness; a city of knowledge, culture and the arts, a city of education and research, a city at the forefront of climate and environmental policies, urban regeneration and sustainable living; a model of dignity, participation, and civil harmony.
