The thesis investigates how food can take on a critical, political and ecological role in the Anthropocene era, becoming an instrument of resistance against extractive logic, as well as an alternative example of coexistence. Venice, a fragile but resilient city, was chosen as a privileged observatory: a laboratory suspended between staticity and continuous transformation, but also fertile ground for convivial experimentation and radical practices. The theoretical approach intertwines art, semiotics, ecology, politics and the aesthetics of conviviality, in order to interpret cuisine as a useful device for connecting different ecosystems. On a methodological level, the research aims to take the form of an expanded curatorial project, based on texts, interviews, personal observations and visual materials, taking the shape of an exhibition in progress. Three case studies, the collectives Tocia!, The Tidal Garden and Barena Bianca, have made it possible to observe culinary practices that transform fragility and marginal knowledge into resources, helping to reinterpret the relationship between the city and the lagoon and to outline Venice as a possible “metabolic museum”. The results show how cooking can become a daily gesture and a preview of new models of coexistence between humans and non-humans. Finally, the perspective of care directs reflection towards a relational and regenerative ecology, based on vital interdependencies and practices of mutual responsibility, also opening up new scenarios of coexistence.
